Bringing Stories to Life: STORM EVENTS Partners with Read for Good
At STORM EVENTS, we’re passionate about building long-term partnerships-and one of the most rewarding is our ongoing collaboration with the charity Read for Good. This incredible organization provides books to schools and hospitals across the UK, funded by donations, and hosts inspiring virtual events that connect children with world-class authors.
Through their popular “Readathons,” celebrated authors such as David Baddiel, Lauren Child, Michael Rosen, and Emma Carroll broadcast live from their homes, reading their stories while thousands of children follow along in classrooms nationwide.
Behind the scenes, STORM VIRTUAL makes it all happen. Led by senior operator Matt Rowbottom from our Peterborough studio, we manage every technical detail-from pre-event checks to live streaming and post-event reporting. Matt conducts thorough technical rehearsals with organisers, hosts, and authors, ensuring perfect audio, visuals, and presentation before going live.
During the event, our team handles:
- Dynamic content delivery: Music, videos, and book covers integrated seamlessly via PowerPoint.
- Interactive engagement: Live Zoom Q&A sessions with hundreds of questions moderated for smooth participation.
- Fun extras: Online quizzes using Zoom Polls to keep young audiences engaged.
With hundreds of schools connected and thousands of children watching, these events require precision and speed. “Of all the calls we do, this one has the most questions – it’s fast-paced and takes quick management and multi-tasking,” says Matt.
Beyond the live experience, we provide recorded replays and detailed statistical reports, ensuring Read for Good can measure impact and share the magic again.
Justine Daniels, CEO of Read for Good, sums it up perfectly:
“STORM’s technical expertise means we can focus on creating the best possible experience for thousands of schools and pupils. Bringing a celebrated author into classrooms is a wonderful way to inspire a life-changing love of reading, and STORM helps us achieve this across the UK.”
Our partnership with Read for Good is a proud example of how STORM EVENTS combines creativity and technology to deliver unforgettable experiences. We look forward to producing even more inspiring virtual events for this amazing charity!
