STORM on Location: Capturing NatWest’s #GoForIt! Challenge Across the UK
How STORM is transforming live events with inclusive design, accessible technology, and expert planning for all audiences.
This summer, NatWest Group launched the #GoForIt! challenge—a 12-day baton relay that spanned 16 locations across the UK, covering almost 1,300 miles by land and sea. More than 300 colleagues took part to raise money for local charities, supported by inspiring athletes from Team GB and ParalympicsGB. STORM Events was proud to partner with NatWest to document the entire journey, capturing the energy, landscapes, and community spirit through cinematic storytelling.
The challenge began in Penzance, Cornwall, with Team GB’s Lola Tambling joining NatWest colleagues to set the iconic purple mobile branch van into motion. From the start, STORM deployed its in-house cinematic kit, including Sony FX6 and FX3 cameras for stunning 4K visuals and dynamic range, plus the Insta360 X5 for immersive 360° shots. Despite unpredictable Cornish skies, we captured sweeping drone footage over St Mount’s Bay and close-up action shots that set the tone for the adventure ahead.
As the baton moved east, we rejoined the team in Southampton for a sailing leg that brought its own challenges. Filming aboard a yacht meant working light and nimble, using compact gear like the DJI Pocket and waterproof Insta360, while the DJI Mavic Pro 4 delivered breathtaking aerial shots of the coastline. Meanwhile, our second crew captured vibrant scenes at NatWest branches, before the baton headed to Northern Ireland. Throughout the journey, STORM operated a rapid workflow, editing and delivering branded highlight videos within 24 hours for NatWest’s social channels—each clip showcasing hundreds of colleagues and the challenge’s infectious energy in near real-time.
The spirit of the event was amplified by appearances from athletes including Max Whitlock, James MacSorley, Toby Roberts, and Matt Bush, who motivated teams and engaged communities at every stop. From Ulster Bank’s mascot Henry the Hippo to open-water swimmers in Windsor, we captured every moment, culminating in a dramatic leg through Wales. Heavy rain and rugged terrain didn’t stop us from filming along the Llangollen Canal and the UNESCO-listed Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, where we seized a brief weather window to launch the drone and capture the team paddling across the iconic structure.
The final stage saw the baton cross the finish line at Menai, met by ParalympicsGB’s Matt Bush and celebrated with Welsh songs performed by NatWest colleagues. It was a fitting end to an incredible journey—and STORM was there every step of the way, overcoming logistical challenges and unpredictable weather to deliver cinematic coverage that brought the #GoForIt! challenge to life.
